Google released the preview version of Honeycomb to developers recently and it was only a matter of time, when we heard some interesting use of it. Nook Color the cheapest and decent platform of the Android tablet is the easiest target and it has stepped up for the Honeycomb challenge
Nook Color had been already rooted and loaded with the latest version of Android (the official upgrade is still pending from Barnes and Noble). The same team from XDA Developers have loaded the preview version of the Honeycomb on the Nook Color device. The port though successful, has been slow and mostly broken, for which the version has been right called a preview. People who have tried the emulator in other forms have also mentioned that it was slow, so we need to get the details on the official reference hardware from Google.
When Google releases the official Honeycomb version, we can be rest assured that this team is going to bring this on Nook Color, just that the processor needs to keep up with the enhancements and multi-tasking capabilities.

How can honeycomb add value to Nook Color?
ReplyDeleteI dont think the hardware of Nook Color can do justice to HoneyComb, but they have released some hardware accelerator support for the Nook Color running preview Honeycomb, so it could make this device more of a tablet than eReader
