News: Google helps you find open businesses

Google has been optimizing the Search results constantly and have pushed the mobile search with lot of useful features. They have used location based Places, to let you search for businesses that are open now.

Google search has provided the option for location based search in both mobile and desktop versions. On search for a business the mobile version of the search, gives additional choices under the Places category in search results.

In iOS / Android, you can access Google.com and access the search results for the business that they are trying to find and click on the arrow to show the categories by which the search can be further filtered. In that from the Places category, you can search for places based on distance and based on the option if they are open or not.

This is a useful feature, when travelling to places that are new and unfamiliar. Not sure if there is a standard protocol available for business to make the hours of operation available in a consistent way. If the information is retrieved by data mining, then it is definitely a first step but not always reliable.
