News: Apple likely to announce new iPad on March 2nd

iPad 2 rumors have been floating around for a while now and multiple sources had stated that there a newer version of iPad going to be announced soon. Looks like Apple has set the date as March 2nd.



It is a short notice for a typical Apple event, but still it is good to hear the date finalized and put an end to all those rumors. The invitation to the announcement is also done in a style that is not Apple like. Normally the meeting announcement comes up and the product being announced is a mystery, but this time the invite showed glimpses of the iPad 2.

There have been some pictures of the device floating in the web, which shows a slimmer profile, lesser bezel and better display. The device is also rumored to have a SD card slot and better processor. It will be interesting to see what additional features Apple is going to bring on-board for this device. It also is to be seen if Steve Jobs will make an appearance during this announcement, as he has been on medical leave since January.

While the Android tablet market is finally warming up (but for its price), this is going to be an important move by Apple to hold its market share on the growing tablet market.
