Gadget: NoteSlate: A device that I am looking forward to

The electronic medium has definitely been making lot of progress recently and it feels like we are witnessing a lot of innovative ideas and more importantly practical implementation of these ideas. The concept and proposal from NoteSlate definitely looks innovative and takes the next logical step of evolution in digital media.

When I read about this device in Gizmodo blog, I was really impressed, but skeptical as there had been numerous such promises that were made, but none of them ever materialized. I have not seen this device announced or followed in any technical forums or electronic event and there is no evidence of this to be real, but the technology and potential definitely exists, so we can definitely hope for this device to become real soon and transition from the prototype phase to the consumer adoption.

The site claims that the mono-color ePaper version of this device is likely to cost $99, which is a lot affordable than any of the tablets. The vision from the Company's site clearly indicates that the intent is NOT to develop a multi-purpose, feature rich device, but develop a device for one purpose and make it best at that. We already have eReaders in the market on a similar venture, but this one takes it further and makes a device to capture notes and data in a conventional form that we are used to.

The electronic medium of laptop is definitely good for sharing information, but when it comes to design and discussions I feel like drawing stuff to help me visualize better and it is definitely not easy with the current gadgets that we have and this promises to fill the gap.
The chart on the Company's website clearly differentiates this from the high-end tablets and to similar eReaders

Lets hope this device gets enough attention to become real and adoption following that to make it a success. The design and concept is impressive, lets hope the software and hardware do justice to that.
