News: New Android Market ignoring Custom ROMS?

Google announced the Android Market during its Honeycomb launch last week. Android Market is a streamlined interface to browse, search and download applications to Android devices.

The post from Engadget Blog has cited some consumer feedback that people who have rooted or manipulated their device to load custom ROMs are having some issue with the Market. When you purchase the application in the online Android Market, you get a page that lists all the compatible devices to which you can download the application. Looks like the list of device does not display the rooted or custom ROM device for some users.

The issue reported is not the same for all users, so it is still a mystery on what is actually going on for this, but will be surprising if Google is locking down the store for the tech savvy consumers. For all its worth, the platform is meant to be Open and we should be able to do all that is possible unlike other platforms.
