Mobile devices with built in GPS capability have become a norm these days and are increasing in market share. In this situation the major GPS players like Garmin and TomTom are trying to redefine their strategy and service offerings to customers. In an interesting move TomTom announced the availability of free HD Traffic service online for many countries (mainly Europe)
The live traffic service called HD Traffic from TomTom is one of the reliable traffic services is available on the web for no cost. The service is launched mainly in Europe currently, but could extend to other countries soon. The TomTom mobile app is not free though, so it will be interesting to see if someone is going to make a portal application to this web service from TomTom.
