General Electric has announced its line up of Cameras today in CES 2011. GE is not new to this segment, but it is no where near being a player in this market. Canon just announced its lineup and it has further lowered its entry level point and shoot price point to less than $100 (Canon Source). At this rate, even though the pricing from GE is sounding competitive, its features and performance is going to find it hard to make any impact.
GE has announced variety of cameras from Point and Shoot to MegaZoom. The more impressive of them being X500 with 15x optical zoom, 16 MP and for $150. Having said all this, should GE really be re-entering this market now?

Do you think they should re-look into their pricing strategy? Such low prices may send the wrong signals to the market.
ReplyDelete@Shark: We have similar pricing from Canon and Nikon too, but they are already established and have good feature sets. I am wondering who is the target audience for this GE announcement
