AppStores are the gateway to the mobile market in Mobile Devices and Tablets giving users access to applications on the devices they own. The different applications both free and paid available for the variety of devices across different platforms, solve the varying needs of all kinds of consumers.
Each major platform being supported in Mobile Devices like iOS, Android and Windows Phone 7, have a version of their own AppStore. While the store from Apple and Microsoft are curated by them, Android has taken a different approach, by having a Google Market, but all devices do not access this market. The access to the market is limited, either because of the choice by the vendor or carrier or because the devices do not meet the criteria defined by Google to enable access. This has let to many of the Android vendors from launching their own AppStore pockets and cause confusion for developers, who just want to make the Application available across all devices.
It has been a confusing time for Android developers, but this move from Amazon is definitely a promising step to resolve this developer conundrum. Amazon is starting this developer program, where the applications can be submitted to Amazon and then get published and marketed by Amazon. Anyone who has thought about eShopping or tried to look for products online, would have definitely come across Amazon.
The company has a large presence and a good reach for marketing the products. More importantly, the company is good in organizing and categorizing and recommending related items to users as required. The number of Android applications have been on the rise, but finding them among all other applications has been reported as problem for all users. While the Android market is growing rapidly, this move from Amazon is likely to benefit both Amazon and Android.
