Amazon has made the eReader market popular with its Kindle line of products and has pushed the sales of eBooks heavily. As per the recent claims from Amazon, the eBooks sales in Amazon has surpassed the sales of hard-copy version of the books.
Kindle did bring the eReader market to limelight, but the concept of eReader and eBooks lacked the ability to share books like the physical books. Barnes and Noble introduced the lending feature in its Nook eReader and finally Amazon has caught up and has released its version of lending on Kindle devices.
The lending feature as in Nook is available on the books for which the published has enabled the option to lend. Not all publishers have jumped on board for the concept of lending though. For the books that can be loaned, the user can choose to lend the books to friends or relatives and it is not restricted only to Kindle device owners. The books can be shared between other platforms modes too that run with Kindle software like iOS, Android, PC and Mac. Users who received the book have 14 days to read the book and during this period the original owner will not have access to the eBook.
While Amazon has enabled lending, it is the site Kindle Lending Club that actually makes this more practical. This site is started by a couple, who register users who are interested in lending and borrowing books and hook them up to make this process likely. This is more like a online book club or online library, where we get this list of books available and can lend from there. Once the 14 days are over and if the books is not yet, users can choose to buy the books through their site making them earn some revenue in this business model. The concept of the club is definitely likely to boost the lending and sharing of books among Kindle owners or users
