News: Update from Adam

Notion Ink recently confirmed that they have received FCC approval, which will allow them to start shipping the product to US. In response to this post in the official blog, there had been some comments and concerns raised by the followers of Adam, about the glass on the device.

Some of the earlier posts in the Notion Ink (NI) blog, showed the NI team doing some scratch test on the device and proving that matte display was better in resisting scratch. The latest device details indicate that the outer matter finish on the device is from the matte screen protector and not from the display glass itself.

The update from Rohan has been that Adam tablet has two layers of Matte surface. The first on the LCD screen itself and other is the screen protector on the outside glass. The matter surface on the LCD screen (inside layer) is meant for cutting the glare that is inherent for LCD displays, while the outer layer is for scratch and finger print protection. If the matte surface of the screen is on the inside layer, it is not clear on what the scratch test was performed. The update from Rohan, explains the device but does not clarify the confusion.

In another update today, the NI team has uploaded a video demonstrating one of the partner applications that will be available on Adam. This partnership with Solaro is meant to enable digital education to students and gives them easy and interactive access to study materials. Based on the details on the site, looks like this application is likely to free on Adam and is already free for iOS devices. Check the video demonstration of the application below
