News: Google Android Market goes the web way

Google Android platform has been criticized a lot for the way the Market is organized. Users had raised lot of concerns for this and Google made some enhancements recently, but not have completely revamped the Market interface and released and online (web) version of the Market.

Starting today Google Market Website is accessible is available for users to navigate, find and purchase applications from. The application purchased online from any system / mobile platform can automatically synced to any compatible device that you have.

The list of applications that already installed can be viewed from the "My Marked Account" page and from there the installed applications can be controlled to be installed in other devices as required.

The Market allows the users to easily purchase both free and paid applications. Once the purchase process ins completed, the users get a choice of compatible devices to which the application needs to be installed. Once this is done, the applications are directly pushed to the devices and available for customer use.

The web version also allows the users to share details on the specific application using standard links, that can take the users directly to the application page. On a application page, developers can post their own banners and videos to promote their application. This page also lists all the reviews, related application and relevant details that user might expect while search for applications.

This is definitely a much needed overhaul from Google and can prove to be beneficial for developers who have adopted the Android platform.

In related news, Google also announced the "Buyer Currency Support", where developers can decide the price on all the different currencies supports, there by providing a consistent experience for users from different countries. More currencies will be added in the time to come, but for now the developers can decide on the price to be fixed, instead of the automatic price fixing and crazy conversions. If developer does not want to opt for this, then they still get the automatic conversion by default.

Other major announcement related to this was the support for "In-App Purchase", which will allow the users to sell additional content, levels or upgrades from within the application. The interface as expected is seamless for this and could also be a welcome update for many developers.
