In the initial battle between Microsoft and Sony, the momentum currently favors Kinect, not from the gaming perspective, but mainly from the numerous hacks and uses the gadget has been leveraged for. PS3 Move from my personal experience is a capable device, but is missing the right games to attract the consumers.
Soon after the release of Kinect, the hacker (developer) community revealed the working of Kinect and integrated that for numerous applications from Star Wars prototype, Mario with motion control and even 3D virtual conferencing.
The sales of Kinect was primarily from the no controller coolness and more importantly from the hype from all these developer attempts. Looks like Sony now wants to leverage similar developer driven momentum. In the Game Developers Conference (GDC) scheduled for end of Feb, there is a planned presentation from Sony with the following description
This talk will bring developers up to speed on developing for the PlayStation Move controller. We will cover developing for the new PlayStation Move Sharp Shooter accessory. We will discuss the new Move Server project that will make it possible for academics and hobbyists to develop software using the PlayStation Move controller on their own PCs.
If this is going to make my investment on the Move controllers all the more useful, I am all for it.

PS3 move controller with a PC? I don't think it will be effective. Sony has to come up with more PS3 move games to attract more customers.
ReplyDelete@Kaushik, there are some PS3 Move games coming up like KillZone, SOCOM 4 and TopSpin, lets see if they have any more lined up
